Congress has pass the American Recovery and Investment Act that provides for a premium subsidy for COBRA beneficiaries.
The subsidy is 65 % of the COBRA continuation coverage premiums for eligible individuals for up to 9 months. The subsidy applies to people who were involuntarily terminated from their employment between 9/1/08 and 12/31/09.
